We Remember Donna Frances Morrow (May 13, 1936 to July 10, 2013)

The family of Donna Morrow gathered today to install a bench in the Drumheller Health Centre’s Palliative Care Garden.  Led by Ken, her husband of 59 years, and her children (pictured left to right) the bench was donated to commemorate a well loved and missed wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. Written on the bench’s plaque is “The love she showered upon us all is not lost, it is merely embracing us from afar.” The donation which installed the bench will also benefit the upkeep of the Palliative Care Garden and will do much to comfort those in need.

Donna (nee Campbell) moved to Michichi from Calgary in 1948 to live with her grandparents.  She attended school there and met her beloved Ken. They were married shortly after in 1953.  They lived in our area all their lives and brought four children to their union.  Donna gardened, raised her children, helped Ken with the cattle and farming and still managed to devote time to the United Church, Community Association and the Home and School Association.  She was also a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 21 years, serving on many levels of the Executive.  (Her secret batter recipe for “Legion Fish Night” remains legendary).

She’s been gone a year, but her memory lingers on.  She’s much missed and still leaves an empty space in our community.
